As the National Fund-of-Funds, Jelawang Capital acts as a strategic Limited Partner (LP), cascading capital through rigorously selected General Partners (GP) rather than in companies directly. These GPs channel investments into high-potential startups, guiding founders and scaling businesses. As returns flow back, catalytic capital multiplies its value, creating jobs, spurring innovation, and strengthening Malaysia’s competitiveness.

LPs such as Jelawang Capital pool long-term commitments and set governance and oversight, which forms a capital stream ready for deployment.

Role in Dana Impak
Jelawang Capital is a component of Khazanah’s Dana Impak initiative. Through catalytic investments, we anchor local fund managers, partner global fund managers, crowd-in private capital, and support startups that drive innovation and long-term economic competitiveness.
Under the ‘A Nation That Creates’ framework, our role focusses on three areas:
- Crowd-in Private Capital: Build capacity through strategic investments and partnerships. We support the growth of high-potential local VC fund managers and expand access to early-stage funding for startups.
- Attract International/Regional GPs & Global Partnerships: We take a structured approach to growth, including capacity-building programmes, unlocking funding through partnerships, and cross-border collaborations.
- Strengthen Local GPs: We enhance local VC talent, governance, and advanced sector capabilities.
